Charlotte Sprint Weekend

Porter Farms, Concord NC - 04/07-08/18

A bit of a drive to Charlotte NC, but totally worth it. If I can sum up this weekend in one word it would be "muddy".

mud

Saturday it rained off and on all day and the course was muddy. Sunday was colder and it didn’t rain, but 1000s of runners on Saturday turned the course it a slippery mud fest. The race DJ/announcer said only about 1/3 of the runner showed up Sunday.

Saturday's Run:
Run felt good. Nailed the SpearMan, which I almost never due. Failed on twister right before the bell. I was so mad, I tried it again. Second time around my arms were to burnt out and I only made it to the second section.

Sunday's Run:
Run was colder and so muddy it was comical. All the obstacles were super slippery and much harder. For some reason my grip strength just wasn’t there on day 2 and with all the mud I really needed it. I failed SpearMan (Shocking), twister, and the rope climb. Bad showing but had a blast in the mud. Looking forward to warmer weather runs.

RV/Camping:
RV is working like a champ and I am learning more about it each trip. For this trip the best part was the warm shower right after the race.

Friday night I camped out at the Walmart about 25 minutes from the event. For those of you that don’t know Walmart is pretty friendly for RV overnight parking. I have seen a few with no overnight parking signs, but have camped at those also. I always park way off in the corner. Every Walmart is different and some can be very interesting at night. This particular one was the local hangout for modified pickup trucks. They mostly just sat off in the corner revving their engines or doing laps around the parking lot. Makes me want exhaust for my truck.

Saturday Night I camped on site at the race. First time I have tried this and nobody seemed to care. Bonus I didn’t have to pay for parking again the second day. It was also nice to get up and just walk over to the starting line.

Sunday after the race I packed up and headed back towards home. Stopped about 4 hours in and set up camp at a Walmart in VA. This was very uneventful Walmart. No night life at all. I did wake up to find a bunch of cars parked near me. No clue why you would park so far away.
